Our spending, as a country, is out of control. There is no budgetary responsibility and there has not been for decades. Our debt is at 100% of GDP and our services are run on continued borrowing and higher debt.

  • We must get our spending under control. All waste, vanity and white elephant projects must be scrapped. All departments must be audited and productivity must be the focus.
    • Our bloated civil service, currently 520,000 full time employees, will be cut significantly. The first cuts will be to pre-Covid levels, back down to 450,000, then they will only go down from there.
  • Once we have our spending under control, all future borrowing must be stopped. We must live within our means.
  • Once we have ended future borrowing, we must use the savings to pay down our huge debt with the aim of halving it within 10 years.
